Duplicate Error Adding Training from Web Edition
Q: When I try to add a new training from the web interface, I get an error message:
Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'Cert_Num'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.tblCerts'
A: This message means that you are trying to add a new training with the same number as an existing training. Each training requires a unique training number. You can use a different number, or locate the existing record and edit that number. Note: Even if you deleted the other training record, you still will not be able to use the same number.
To locate the existing record, you may need to look in your active/inactive training list or your deleted training list.
1. From the menu bar, select "Training > Search Training".
2. Type in the training number and click "Go".
If the training is not found:
1. From the menu bar, select "Training > Restore Deleted Training".
2. Click the Title or Number to open the detail record.
3. Click "Restore". Now you can edit the record to a different number, or use it as your active training record.

- If no records are found, the previous record may be inactive. In this case, you may locate it by scrolling to the bottom of the Training List page and setting the Select Status to Show field to Inactive.
- If the previous record does not appear on the active or inactive list than it has likely been deleted and you will have to restore the record so that you may change the number.
- Select Restore Deleted Training from the Training pull down menu at the top of your screen.
- Look in the right-hand, number column for the number you wish to use. If there are a lot of listings, use CTRL f to quickly search for the number on the page.
- Once you have located the record, click the record ID number in the left-hand column to open the record and then click RESTORE.
- The training will now appear in your active Training List. Locate it there, edit the training number, click Save Changes and then Delete.
- You may now use thsi number for a new training.
